Geofilter

When starting this project I knew that I wanted to be able to use my geofilter if it got accepted, so I chose for it to be in Bettendorf. When I think of Bettendorf I think of sunsets because almost everyday there is a really pretty sunset. If I could change one thing I'd make my lines smoother.

Collagraph print

For this project I wanted to do a landscape because I thought it would make for a nice collage. I was inspired to do mountains because currently I am painting one for my painting class. I also wanted to be able to make mine colorful so a mountain landscape was perfect. I liked being able to play around with color and the different materials used for texture. If I could change one thing I'd change the details within the mountain.

animal illustration

For this project I knew that I wanted to do a picture of a dog. I chose a French Bulldog because that's the kind of dog I want in the future and my favorite breed. The part I struggled with the most was getting all of the details within the face. I wish I would've taken more time on the body but I really like how  it  turned out. I think I did the best on the ears and snout. In all I like how everything came together in the end.

Concert Poster

For this project I wanted to do Lana Del Rey. I chose her because recently she's been my favorite artist. I knew that I wanted my color scheme to be something colorful and with a variety, so I chose analogous. My inspiration for my poster was another poster someone else made but I wanted to remake it the way I wanted. For the background I wanted to do black so it would really make the image stand out and grab peoples attention.

animal linocut

For this project I wanted to do an elephant as my animal. I wanted to do an elephant because they're one of my favorite animals. Also I did something similar to this in Commercial Art I. If I could change something about this project I would've added more ink on all of my prints because I think it looks neater when there is a lot of ink. In all I do like how my carving of the elephant turned out.
For this project I did a ladybug on a flower. At first I wanted to ladybug to be on a leaf but I couldn't find any pictures that I liked. I struggled the most with the registration because the circles for the inside of the flower and the ladybug weren't the same size as the outline. Even though they didn't line up together exactly I think it still turned out nicely. If I could change one thing I'd make everything the same size so that it would all fit together.

choice project

  1. Who is your client? (Who are you making this design for? A person? Company? School? Non-profit?)
My clients are Madison Beer's managing team. They wanted me to make a poster that could be used as advertisment and also
something they could put on Tee-shirts.

2. What is your client’s purpose for this work? What do they want to achieve with this design? (How will it be used? Advertising? Logo? Letterhead? Tee shirts?)
My clients wanted something unique and also something that is Madison's style/vibe. Her fans are her fans because they like the vibe she gives so the fans should also like the design.

3. What is the main VIBE of your client’s company? (What is their style? Beliefs? Mission statement? Colors? You may create a type of “mood board” to answer this question - it will greatly help you when brainstorming your design)
See mood board.

4. Who is their target audience? (Who will see this design? Who do they want it to influence? Demographics - Age, gender, geographic location, income, etc?)
Their target audience would be her fans who are typically teenagers in high school.

5. What exists already? (Research other similar design projects - you must come up with something original that does not overlap with designs that are already out there)
Designs for the posters that already exist are just her album cover. So her team wanted something different and fun.

6. What is your initial design plan? (Sketch below - remember this must be done as if you are going to present this “mock-up” to a client before they approve and let you complete the finished product so it is much more than a quick sketch)
My initial design plan was to do something very unique and something no one has done before. I knew I wanted it to be bright and colorful so I chose to do a pop-art design.

Card Sketch

For this project I wanted to make something with a purpose so I chose to make Easter cards since it's the closest holiday. For the design I did an Easter basket with eggs in it and flowers at the bottom. If I could change something I'd probably take out the flowers because they are hard to see. I also would've made something with bigger lines to make it easier to carve.
